I havent updated you lovely people on my sister in awhile. So I will pass on the 'note' I received from her promotion manager, and close family friend as well, Sara Lee:
"I saw Kate today. She's in her new place at the skilled recovery/rehabilitation care facility
~name and location edited out for safety sake~. It was a good visit. She has made lots of progress.
She 'arm wrestled' Michelle and won, then laughed about it. It was super cool. She's getting more and more movement in her arms and legs. She can respond with thumbs up and thumbs down for yes and no answers! She can shake her head yes and no, hold her head and shoulders up off the bed for a minute. All things considered she's doing very well in her recovery. In fact while Michelle and I were there she signaled that she wanted to write so we got her pen and paper. It was too much for her but I asked Kate if she'd like me to bring a laptop in and she immediately gave me thumbs up and shook her head yes. So I'm going to take my laptop in for her to try out."
That was sent Tuesday Dec. 10th. She was moved from the hospital on the 5th. She receives Speech, Occupational, and Physical therapy daily and is progressing slow but steady. We are happy and encouraged by her progress, there are the little things like going outside, and taking a real shower! that just seem amazing now, where they used to be so simple. Our mom passed on some of the heart break, (if I havent said, she is a local award winning singer/song writer) the speech therapist was pushing her hard to get her to vocalize.. anything really not any word in particular, mom said you could see her throat straining she was trying SO hard but then she just dropped her chin and shook her head 'no' with tears in her eyes.

She may not be talking yet (but she laughed!)I am holding out hope that her voice will come out in the end.

She has a lot of work relearning everything from swallowing to walking and everything in between, Mom says she passes new milestones almost daily now.. but still a long road ahead of her and we don't know where it ends.
I am told the auction and party went well.. and I can never express my gratitude to those of you who donated towards it.

Me... I am in a little a vortex.. time moves so fast and so slow at the same time.. oxymoron.. art seems to be a foreign concept I cannot wrap my head around., be it stress or work.. or both....
time heals...
Thank you for the thoughts and prayers and concern through this chapter of my life.
~C~
I hope that it continues and will get her voice back.
Wish a better year for you and your family.
