I have been meaning to do this for her for years now, since I did [link] and every year her birthday has slipped passed with out it being done...and now that it's done she cannot appreciate it....I'll stop here so I dont start crying.
Feathers taken from a Native American peace pipe she gave my son years ago. Bear pieced together from photos I took of a stuffed grizzly on display where I used to work and much painting. and a subtle glitter texture thanks to =Tracie76Stock
I do try to respond to comments. Life keeps me so busy I find it hard to reply personally to faves, (some day DA will add a reply to fave option) so I thank you now with all my heart. ~Carolyn~
This is a stirring tribute, and gift for your sister. The technique is nice and clean, I am especially loving the way the single strands of fur are done and the blending of the shades and the depth of the fur around the eyes. I think the strands of feathers deserve more attention to detail since they are the only other real element in this piece, they seem a little flat in conjunction with the rest of the piece. Over all though the shading, the bear, the mottled back ground is very well put together. I am h oping to see more of these animal spirits from you, they are good for the soul, as well as very original.
All I can really say that it leaves me in awe- the bear grasps firm hold of one's attention, and though so simple-looking at a glance, it is really quite intricate and detailed. Great work.
